    HISTORY
    Before the year of 1963, the variety of avocado that was prevailing was the CRIOLLO and the principal producting States of the same one, were Puebla, Veracruz and Michoacán. From this year stopped spreading the variety of the CRIOLLO and was displeased by some improved varieties, betweenwhich they stood out the FUERTE, and the HASS. This important change took place during the year of 1961 in Michoacán State. In the beginning there spread more the FUERTE, which came to California in the previous 1911 of Atlixco, Puebla, to be improved genetically and later to spread it worldwide. The FUERTE avocado had in some time a great expansion in Michoacán; nevertheless rapidly it was displeased by another variety improved in California: The avocado HASS, that given its excellent characteristics of productivity, quality and resistance for the commercial managing, has managed to be the number one in Michoacán State and also to national level.
